Steven M. Ruffalo graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984. He began his professional career in the Division General Counsel's office of the Unisys Corporation in 1988 while earning his law degree from the John Marshall School of Law and his Masters in Business Administration from Rosary College. Entering private practice in 1989, he joined a Wheaton, Illinois law firm in which his practice became concentrated in civil litigation involving commercial and business related disputes.
Since joining Fuchs & Roselli, Ltd. in 1990, he has been serving the litigation and pre-litigation needs of many small to mid-sized businesses. Having significant experience through litigating, trying and settling a wide range of chancery and law cases in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana (including municipal zoning disputes, contract, statutory, business tort, partnership, shareholder, securities and real estate disputes, injunctions, state and federal R.I.C.O. claims, contested estates, trust reformation, financial exploitation of the elderly and mortgage and mechanic's lien foreclosures), Since 1999 Mr. Ruffalo has achieved and maintained the highest “AV” rating (very high to preeminent) among his peers for legal ability, professional reliability, diligence and ethics.
Mr. Ruffalo is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Federal Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Mr. Ruffalo currently serves as special counsel to the College of DuPage and has served as General Counsel to the DuPage County Bar Association and Assistant Village Attorney for the Village of Hinsdale. Mr. Ruffalo is an active contributor to the DuPage County Bar Association holding the positions of Chairman of its Labor and Employment Law Committee (2002-03), Chair of Business Law and Practice Committee (2003-04), Chair of the Lawyer Referral and Mediation Service (2007), Director from 2006 until being elected as Third Vice President of the DCBA in 2007. Mr. Ruffalo served as President of the DCBA (2010-2011) and went on to serve as Chair of the Judiciary Committee and President of the DuPage County Bar Foundation (2011-12). Mr. Ruffalo was selected as a Fellow of the American Bar Association in 2010 and also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the College of DuPage Foundation where he is Chairman of the Bylaws Committee and the Planned Giving Committee.
